These instructions help you configure your Avaya Norstar to work with TIM Plus. Contact your system maintainer if you are not familiar with the configuration of your PBX.

  TIM Plus establishes a serial connection with this PBX.

Configuring your SMDR output

Below you will find instructions on how to configure your Avaya Norstar to output SMDR data to TIM Plus. You will need to do this from a system programming phone:

  1. On your programming phone, press the Feature key and then 9* 2 to access the CLI menu.
  2. Press Next and you will see Printer and the current baud rate that the data is sent. If want to change this, select Change and select the new baud rate.
  3. Press Next and you will see Format. Select Change and set it to Norstar.
  4. Press Next and you will see Report. Please leave this as the default which is All.
  5. Now press the Rls button as the programming is complete.

Installing NetPBX

The Avaya Norstar phone system sends SMDR information via a serial connection. To collect the data from the serial port and send it to TIM Plus, you will first need to install NetPBX software. For setup instructions, click on the link below:

Configuring TIM Plus

Once NetPBX is configured and collecting data, log on to TIM Plus as usual and apply the following settings:

  1. Click on the Directory tab.
  2. Select the site configured during the setup wizard and click Properties.

  3. Within the Site Properties window, select Avaya Norstar from the PBX model drop-down list.
  4. In the Connection method field, select No connection required from the drop-down list.
  5. Click on the Save button to save the settings.
