In certain installations, such as POS (point of sale), it is desirable to protect the call logger against unauthorised access from passers-by. When a console user has been setup (see above), upon starting the call logging software, the user cannot perform any functions without first unlocking the console using the chosen password.

Unlocking is achieved by clicking the Unlock menu item at the top-left of the call logging screen, as shown below.

After entering the password successfully, the Unlock menu item changes to Lock, ready to be clicked on when the authorised user has finished his/her administration and wants to lock the application once more.
