These instructions help you configure your NEC Aspire phone system to work with TIM Plus. Contact your system maintainer if you are not familiar with the configuration of your PBX.

Configuring your SMDR

Below you will find details on how to configure the SMDR output on the NEC Aspire. The programming will need to be done via PC Pro/Web Pro:

  1. Login to your PC Pro/Web Pro.
  2. As the NEC Aspire has multiple ways of sending SMDR data, below are the configuration settings based on each adaptor:

Serial output

Installing NetPBX

If your NEC Aspire has been configured to send SMDR data via a serial connection, you will first need to install NetPBX software to collect the data from the serial port and send it to Tim Plus. For setup instructions, click on the link below:

Configuring TIM Plus

Once NetPBX is configured and collecting data, log on to TIM Plus as usual and apply the following settings:

  1. Click on the Directory tab.
  2. Click on the site configured during the setup wizard and click Properties.

  3. Within the Site Properties window, select NEC Aspire from the PBX model drop-down list.
  4. In the Connection method field select No connection required from the drop-down list.
  5. Click on the Save button to apply the settings.

IP output

Configuring TIM Plus

If your NEC Aspire has been configured to send the data via TCP/IP, follow the steps below to configure TIM Plus:

  1. Click on the Directory tab.
  2. Click on the site configured during the setup wizard and click Properties.

  3. Within the Site Properties window, select NEC Aspire from the PBX model drop-down list.
  4. In the Connection method field select Actively connect to PBX from the drop-down list.
  5. In the Host field enter the IP Address of your NEC Aspire.
  6. In the Port field enter in the port configured in programming code 10-20-01.
  7. Leave the Username and Password fields blank.
  8. In the Connection script field select Generic Simple from the drop-down list.
  9. Finally, click on the Save button to apply the changes.

 


These instructions should assist in configuring your NEC Aspire to work with TIM Plus. If you are not familiar with PBX configuration, please contact your system maintainer.

Connection information Description
Connection type Serial Output or IP: To use a serial connection you will need to have a CTA/CTU adaptor or a NTCPU adaptor installed on your NEC Aspire. You will need to connect a serial cable from the adaptor to the PC that NetPBX is installed and running on.
Cable configuration Straight-through for the CTA/CTU Adaptor and Null-modem/Crossover for the NTCPU serial adaptor.
IP method If the NEC Aspire is configured to send the SMDR information via TCP/IP, the actual installation of TIM Plus can be anywhere on the network that the PBX is connected to. The NEC Aspire will need to be configured to output SMDR data via TCP/IP so TIM Plus can connect to it. TIM Plus will connect to the NEC Aspire on TCP port 23.

Configuring your SMDR

Below you will find details on how to configure the SMDR output on the NEC Aspire. The programming will need to be done via PC Pro/Web Pro:

  1. Login to your PC Pro/Web Pro.
  2. As the NEC Aspire has multiple ways of sending SMDR Data, below are the configuration settings based on each adaptor:

Configuring TIM Plus

Below you will find steps on how to configure TIM Plus to listen for SMDR data from your NEC Aspire:

  1. Browse to TIM Plus as normal and login with your credentials.
  2. Click on the Directory tab.
  3. Click on the site configured during the setup wizard and click Propertiesor create a new site and click Properties.

  5. Within the Site Properties window, select NEC Aspire from the PBX model drop-down list.
  6. In the Connection method field select Actively connect to PBX from the drop-down list.
  7. In the Host field enter the IP Address of your NEC Aspire.
  8. In the Port field enter in the port configured in programming code 10-20-01.
  9. Leave the Username and Password fields blank.
  10. In the Connection script field select Generic Simple from the drop-down list.
  11. Finally, click on the Save button.
