Configuring your SMDR

Follow the steps below to configure your Avaya Norstar to output SMDR data to TIM Plus. You will need to do this must perform these operations from a system programming phone:

  1. On your programming phone, press the Feature key and then , followed by 9* 2 to access the CLI menu.
  2. Press Next and you will see Printer and the current  to display the Printer settings showing the baud rate that the data is sent at. If want to To change this value, select Change and select the choose a new baud rate.
  3. Press Next and you will see Format. Select Change and set it  to display the Format settings.  Ensure this is set to Norstar.
  4. Press Next and you will see Report. Please leave this as the default which is  to show Report settings.  Ensure this is set to All.
  5. Now press Press the Rls button as to complete the programming is completesteps.

Installing NetPBX

The Avaya Norstar phone system sends SMDR information via a serial connection . To collect the data from the serial port and send it to TIM Plus, you will to the computer running TIM Plus.  To collect serial data, you first need to install NetPBX the netpbx software. Configuring TIM Plus

Once NetPBX is configured and collecting data, log on in to TIM Plus as usual and apply perform the following settingssteps:

  1. Click on the Directory tab.
  2. Click on Choose the site configured during the setup wizard you want to configure and click Properties.

  5. BCM from the PBX model drop-down list.
  6. In the Connection method field, select No connection required from the drop-down list.
  7. Click on the Save button to save the settings.

				The Avaya Norstar requires a CLI2 box. If you don't have one you should speak to your system maintainer to purchase one. Avaya Norstar PBX sends SMDR information via a serial connection. 
				You will need to directly connect a serial cable from the CLI2 box to the PC that NetPBX is installed and running on.

<h2>Configuring your CDR</h2>

<p>Below you will find instructions on how to configure your Avaya Norstar
 to output CDR to TIM Plus. You will need to do this from a system
 programming phone:</p>

<ol>
	<li>On your programming phone, press the <span class="button no_margin">Feature</span> key and then <span class="button no_margin">9</span><span class="button no_margin">*</span>
	<span class="button no_margin">2</span> to access the CLI menu.</li>
	<li>Press <span class="button no_margin">Next</span> and you will see <span class="reference">Printer</span> and the current baud rate that the data is sent. If want to change this, select 
	<span class="button no_margin">Change</span> and select the new baud rate.</li>
	<li>Press <span class="button no_margin">Next</span> and you will see <span class="reference">Format</span>. Select <span class="button no_margin">Change</span> and set it to <span class="keyword">Norstar</span>.</li>
	<li>Press <span class="button no_margin">Next</span> and you will see <span class="reference">Report</span>. Please leave this as the default which is <span class="keyword">All</span>.</li>
	<li>Now press the <span class="button no_margin">Rls</span> button as the programming is complete.</li>

<h2>Configuring TIM Plus</h2>

<p>Below you will find steps on how to configure TIM Plus to listen for SMDR data from your Avaya Norstar:</p>

<ol>
	<li>Browse to TIM Plus as normal and login with your credentials.</li>
	<li>Click on the <span class="button no_margin">Directory</span> tab.</li>
	<li>Click on the site configured during the setup wizard and click <span class="button no_margin">Properties</span>or create a new site and click <span class="button no_margin">Properties</span>.</li>

	<li>Within the <span class="reference">Site Properties</span> window, select <span class="keyword">Avaya Norstar</span> from the <span class="reference">PBX model</span> drop-down list.</li>
	<li>In the <span class="reference">Connection method</span> field select <span class="keyword">No connection required</span> from the drop-down list.</li>
	<li>Finally, click on the <span class="button no_margin">Save</span> button.</li>
