These instructions help you configure your 3COM VCX phone system to work with TIM Enterprise. Contact your system maintainer if you are not familiar with the configuration of your PBX.

Configuring your SMDR output

To retrieve the call logging data from your 3COM VCX phone system, you need set up an SFTP transfer. Using WinSCP - a free FTP client software, we have presented below an example of how to configure the FTP transfer. Alternatively, you can use any other third-party FTP client software.

Once connected to the phone system, you can transfer the CDR files, located by default in , to the PC running TIM Enterprise.

In this example, the XML files are being copied in the following location: , given the folder has been created in advance for this purpose.

Creating a batch file

To enable TIM Enterprise to process the XML files, you need to create a batch file containing the following lines:

In the above example, the needs to be replaced with the unique ID of the site object you are trying to send the data to. The site ID will be displayed in the general properties of the site object in the Directory.

The batch file will cut the XML files and paste them into the folder, once their file extension has been updated with the designated . A Windows scheduled task must be set up as well in order to run the batch file every 5 minutes or so.

Configuring TIM Enterprise

Once the batch file has been configured, log in to TIM Enterprise and perform the steps below:

  1. Click on the Directory tab.
  2. Choose the PBX object you want to configure and click Properties.
  3. A new window will open. In the General tab, select 3Com VCX-NBX from the Data format list and tick the Keep a local backup of data box, as shown below:

  4. In the Connection tab, select Receive FTP transfers from PBX from the Connection method list.
  5. In the Username field, enter the username of your 3COM VCX phone system.
  6. In the Password field, enter the password of your 3COM VCX phone system.
  7. Click on the Save button to apply the changes.
