These instructions help you configure your ShoreTel phone system to work with TIM Plus. Contact your system maintainer if you are not familiar with the configuration of your PBX.

These instructions should assist in configuring your ShoreTel to work with TIM Plus. If you are not familiar with PBX configuration, please contact your system maintainer.

IP method The ShoreTel stores its 'Call Detail Records' in a MySQL database which is located on the ShoreWare Server.

Configuring ShoreTel

By default, the CDRs are written to the MySQL Database.

The database that TIM Plus will connect to is called 'ShoreWareCDR'. You will need to create a username and password on the ShoreWare Server for the MySQL database so TIM Plus can connect to it. You may need to speak to your system maintainer to create this for you.

You will need to know the following information for TIM Plus to connect successfully to the Shoretel ShoreWareCDR database:

  • IP/DNS of the MySQL Database which is located on the ShoreWare Server.
  • Username and Password to connect to the ShoreWareCDR database.

Setting up a DSN connection for TIM Plus

You will need to setup a DSN connection for TIM Plus to work with the ShoreTel. Below you will find instructions on how to do this within Microsoft Windows:

  1. Click on Windows Start.
  2. Click on Control panel.
  3. Double click on Administrative tools icon.
  4. Double click on Data Sources (ODBC) icon.
  5. Click on the System DSN tab.
  6. Click on the Add button.
  7. Select MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver from the list and click Finish. If you cannot see the MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver you will need to download this from http://www.mysql.com.
  8. In the Name field enter the following: shoretel.
  9. In the Description field enter the following: TIM Plus link to ShoreTel.
  10. In the Server field enter the IP Address of the ShoreWare Server.
  11. In the Username field enter the username that was created for the ShoreWareCDR database.
  12. In the Password field enter the password that was created for the ShoreWareCDR database.
  13. In the Database drop-down list select ShoreWareCDR.
  14. Now click on the Test button which will confirm if the information you entered is correct and connection is successful.
  15. Click on the OK button and then again to close the window.

Now you will be able to see the ShoreTel in the System DSN list.

Configuring TIM Plus

Below you will find steps on how to configure TIM Plus to listen for SMDR data from your ShoreTel:

  1. Browse to TIM Plus as normal and login with your credentials.
  2. Click on the Directory tab.
  3. Click on the site configured during the setup wizard and click Propertiesor create a new site and click Properties.
  4. ShoreTel
  5. Within the Site Properties window, select ShoreTel from the PBX model drop-down list.
  6. In the Connection method field select Connect to a system DSN from the drop-down list.
  7. In the DSN name field select ShoreTel from the drop-down list.
  8. In the Frequency field enter in 5.
  9. In the DB script field select ShoreTel from the drop-down list.
  10. Finally, click on the Save button.
